Tournament Details. What is it?

The 1st Annual College Poker Championship™ is an online Texas Hold 'em No Limit poker tournament series, open exclusively to registered university and college students worldwide. The winner truly can claim the title of Best College Texas Hold 'em No Limit Poker Player in the World.
Entry into the tournament is entirely free, and no purchase is ever required by either College Poker Championship.com or the sponsor Royal Vegas Poker.

There is $500 in scholarship awards plus $500 cash awarded each week in the qualifying rounds. The semi-final round offers $5,000 in scholarship awards and the final event awards $50,000 in scholarship awards. As an additional feature in the final event, charitable donations totalling $10,000 will also be given to any charity or organization chosen by the winners.

When is the First Annual CPC?

The tournament runs for just over four months, with 18 weekly qualifying rounds. The top 15 players per week qualify for the semi-final round and compete against 270 student poker players for 100 places in the final event.

  • Qualifying rounds will be played every Sunday at 2:00 PM EST beginning Sunday, January 25, 2004 with the last qualifying event on Sunday, May 23, 2004.
  • There are 18 qualifying events with a minimum of 15 students qualifying each week for the semi-final event.
  • The 270+ students who have qualified from the previous rounds will be invited to participate in the Semi-Final round played on Sunday, May 30, 2004 at 4:00 PM EST.

The top 100 students from the Semi-Final will qualify to participate in the Final Event, which will be played on Sunday, June 06, 2004 at 4:00 PM EST.

The first annual College Poker Champion was crowned. Congratulations to Grant C from Washington and Lee University in the United States. Grant scored a massive $15,000. In addition, $3,000 was donated to Students for Life.
